hi! we’re Jenna and Alec.
Wababaland is a bakery and food lab out of our home kitchen in Hartland, Vermont.
Jenna is a self-taught chef with a background in product management, and Alec a designer and photographer.
When we met in 2017 as coworkers in San Francisco, we worked together building software products, daydreaming about one day working together on an idea of our own. Having grown up in Vermont and New Hampshire, we also bonded deeply on our experiences growing up as Asian Americans in New England.
In 2022, we made our way back east, finding home on the VT/NH border in the Upper Valley. After getting married in 2023, we threw a big celebration at our house which we called Wababalands — a combination of our last names. It was family reunion-meets-neighborhood block party-meets housewarming and embodied the magic we've found in collaborating and partnering with each other, and the joy we experience in sharing that with others.
Today, Wababaland is the next evolution of our love and collaboration through food. Part of our shared culture as Asian-Americans is hearing and asking the question, "have you eaten yet?" — a common refrain in Asian cultures that shows care for another's well-being.
For Jenna, preparing food for others is the ultimate expression of care and connection. In her years eating her way around San Francisco with Alec and growing up in a Chinese-American household, Jenna developed a belief that everyone deserves to eat something great. She’s excited to bring that inspiration back home to the Upper Valley.
